What we do
There are about 3 million jobs that are not covered due to insufficient number of engineers.
With many open positions in science, technology and engineering,
we need to encourage our young people to pursue a career in one of these important fields.
Why is it important?
If technology is designed mainly by 50% of the population, mostly men, we are losing innovations that could be contributed by the other 50% of the population who are women.
Women represent 18% of all graduates in Computer Science.
In 1984, they accounted for 37%.
By 2020, there will be over 1.4 million employment opportunities related to computing. However, we can only cover 30% of these positions.
Computer jobs are among the ones with the biggest increase and better paid, therefore more women should benefit from these occupations.
It's a space where our ambassadors share their experiences and answer frequently asked questions. That way the girls can see themselves as future engineers and engage in a close network with the presenters.
The girls learn to code through video game, web and mobile development among other things. These bootcamps last between 2 or 3 months.
The girls work in teams to design and build (through coding) a high impact project which would be oriented to a social common issue. These projects have a business model which allows them to be scalable through time.
